Paternal relationship test – X chromosome analysis

• 2 cotton-tipped swabs per participant.
• 1 paper envelope per participant to store the swabs, and a larger envelope to prepare the package with all the samples for shipment to the laboratory.
• 1 application form.

Instructions for collecting an oral swab sample

It is VERY IMPORTANT that before collecting the sample you do not drink, eat, or smoke for at least one hour before performing the test.

The sample to be collected will be done with 2 swabs for each participant, 1 for each cheek.

STEP 1
Wash your hands to take extra precautions and avoid contaminating the swab. When opening the sachet or wrapper containing the swabs, take extra precautions to avoid the cotton coming into contact with surfaces or objects.

STEP 2
Carefully open the plastic wrapper containing the swab. With the first swab, collect a sample from your right cheek: Firmly (but not aggressively) rub your cheek 30 times or for 1 minute. Leave the cotton swab (cotton end facing up) in a glass and let it dry for 1 hour. Repeat the same procedure with the other swab on your left cheek.

STEP 3
Place both swabs from the same participant in a paper envelope, seal the envelope, and write the following information on the front:
Sample identifier (e.g.: sister 1, sister 2):
Name:
Age:
Sample extraction date:
Repeat the same procedure for the other participant.

STEP 4
Complete and sign the application form.
Once you have completed it, you must place the signed form, along with the swab envelopes, inside the courier’s plastic envelope for shipping to the laboratory. Contact our center, and we will arrange sample collection with the courier.
