What does the test consist of?
The test includes the analysis of the following HPV strains: 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66 and 68
The sample is obtained by the patient himself using a kit that includes 2 different swabs:
- swab for obtaining the urethral sample
- swab for obtaining the preputial sample
Why is it important?
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common infection that can affect both men and women. Although it is primarily associated with cervical cancer in women, it can also cause health problems in men, such as genital warts, anal cancer, and penile cancer. Urethral papillomavirus tests can detect the presence of HPV in the urethral tract or foreskin. Early detection can allow for timely medical intervention to prevent the development of HPV-related complications.
